| Matt La Spina
established one of North Queensland's original building companies in Cairns in 1956. Matt
married Nancy in 1959 and together they raised four sons, who over the years have all
worked in the industry. During the 1960's, Matt was involved in the establishment of the first concrete block in Cairns. Known as " Northern Concrete Masonry Limited", it later became better known as Besser, and more recently, as Pioneer Building Products. Matt, in fact, laid the first block ever produced and assisted in the development of the products from its earliest days. Today a large percentage of homes are constructed from product. Matt has always been a strong believer in training, and to his credit he has trained more than sixteen apprentices in Carpentry and Bricklaying, with most becoming registered builders in North Queensland. The La Spina family have always had a strong affiliation with the Queensland Master Builders Association (QMBA), and have been members since 1962 and most of that time as committee members. Since the mid 1950's, La Spina Homes have built many quality homes, units, shops and offices throughout North Queensland. The tradition of quality and service that has become synonymous with La Spina Homes over the years is now carried on by Matt's sons, Matthew and Alfio, who together guarantee that the highest of standards are met on your building project. |
